Kristen, Juliana, and Mary Kate were all adopted from Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, and Kevin was adopted from Shangrao, Jiangxi Province, PR China. All About Kristen... Kristen (formerly Yang Mingxia) was adopted on April 3, 1997, at 12 1/2 months of age. Coincidentally, Kristen became a United States Citizen on the day her sister, Juliana, was born. Kristen traveled back to China with my husband and I (at age 3 1/2) to meet and greet Juliana. All About Juliana… Juliana (formerly Yang Xiaoye) was adopted on September 28, 1999, also at 12 months of age. As it turns out, that red thread connecting again, Juliana and Kristen had the same caregiver during their stay in Yangzhou. We were fortunate enough to meet her when we visited Yangzhou. All About Mary Kate… Mary Kate (formerly Yang Xiru) was adopted at 14 months of age on January 9, 2002. Our third daughter, nicknamed “Turtle” by her sisters because turtles are slow to get where they are going, arrived home on 01/19/02—a mere 15 months after DTC!!! Mary Kate is also from Yangzhou. This time, Mommy traveled alone to get her, while Kristen and Juliana stayed home with their Dad. Big sisters have welcomed mei mei with open arms!!!!!!!!!!! All About Kevin… Kevin (formerly Ling Yu Bang) was adopted at 25 months of age on September 13, 2006. He was a “waiting child” who was born with club feet. We decided to bring all our children back to China to welcome Kevin into our family. In addition to being a wonderful bonding experience for all of us, the trip proved to be an amazing educational experience for each of our girls.
Each time in China brought new experiences and new friends. My husband and I are very thankful to have shared our adoption experiences with such wonderful travel mates. We have made great lifelong friends through these journeys. Such a bonus!
We are truly blessed… Patti Urban |

BOY, OH BOY, OH BOY!!!! IT’S A BOY!!! Meet our new son, Kevin, formerly Ling Yu Bang, from Shangrao SWI in Jiangxi Province, China. Kevin was a waiting child who is no longer waiting! We adopted Kevin on September 13, 2006. He is He is an incredible baby boy who is catching up very quickly. He is surrounded by so much love from his new mom and dad and three very doting big sisters. We all went to China to meet him and bring him home. The girls loved China but were actually quite disappointed when they couldn’t get the Disney Channel on television! Kevin is settled in now, and it feels as if he has been with us forever. He has brought so much more joy to our home. How fortunate we are to have such wonderful, healthy children! God has truly blessed us.
MERRY CHRISTMAS 2006! |
